Can I move into the dollhouse please?

Am I the only mom who doesn’t want ugly toys around? I know I can’t be. There are a lot cuter toys today than there used to be, but some are still jarring and well, if they can be super cute - why not right?

I had decided to makeover a dollhouse for my girls, I tried to find an old one, but I just had a hard time finding one with furniture, or one that was a style I wanted. I ended up buying a brand new one and starting from there.

Who are we kidding here, I had a great time making this. I made the bedroom fireplace out of clay (it is slightly falling apart), and recovered the sofa from a Goodwill pillowcase, made faucets and plates out of clay, and found a few rattan furniture pieces on Mercari. The upstairs pink bed was a pencil holder from Marshalls, and the main fireplace just some trim molding. The paintings and some of the wallpaper I printed out. Most of the blankets, rugs and fabrics were all cut up pieces from Goodwill.

If I didn’t have an actual day job (raising and schooling my kids) and a night job (as a graphic designer) maybe I would just re-do with dollhouses. The kids love playing with it now, but I loved playing with it/making it.
