Secret Garden: A little girls dreamy room

Sometimes you get a dream in your heart of having a boxwood hedge garden room. Well, that’s what happened to me, and when I found out my third child was a girl - the dream had space to become a reality.

Seriously though, I had always wanted to do this. When we found out we were having a third child, we split my sons long skinny room into two. Instead of drywall we added panelling to the framing, I loved the vibe it created and instead of painting, decided to keep it as it was.

The boxwood hedges were added to outside of a wardrobe, making a secret magical closet perfect for hide and seek. The painting is by me, the frame, rug and later added dresser are from my husbands father and are treasured family heirlooms now.

When my daughter outgrew her crib, we added this adorable toddler bed which squeezed right in.

The plastic nesting dolls I picked up in Spain next to the Cathedral de Santiago, for which I had just completed Camino, and they are so special to me.

A few Christmases ago we were making gift tags, and my daughter colored on some cardboard tags with white pen and white paint. I adored the finished product and it’s Rauschenberg feel so I had her make a painting for her room. I bought the painting at Goodwill, covered it with a paper and gave her white paint. Honestly, I would put it in my living room .I love it.
The little camels are from Mongolia.
